The local fiesta is the moment when every town and village strives to put on a splendid show. Over 3,000 fiestas are celebrated every year in Andalusia, including fairs, pilgrimages and carnivals.
Holiday Sport Activities
Skiing; the Sierra Nevada overlooking Granada is a leading European ski centre. You can ski in the morning and be at home sunbathing in the afternoon for around 4 months of the year.
Wind and Ski surfing; the west of the coast has the world's leading centre for these adventure sports, Tarifa, on the Atlantic coast, is the shrine of the young and fit.
The horse is an integral part of Spanish heritage and you will find the opportunity to ride. The new race course of Mijas Costa is now attracting trainers from all over Europe and the quality of racing is the highest in Spain. There are also many private stables where you can try horse riding for yourself.
The climate is perfect for tennis all year round. There is a fine Gun and Country club in the mountains where every discipline is available.
If the sea attracts you, you will find sub aqua and sailing clubs all along the coast. If you prefer more leisurely activities then lawn bowls is very popular. The clubs are very active and competitions are always well attended.
